Resolution Declaring April As National Pickleball Month In The Town Of Wappinger
At a Regular Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County,
New York, held at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls, New York, on April 13,
2026.

The following Resolution was introduced by Casella and seconded by Councilman
Phillips.
WHEREAS, pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States, enjoyed by
individuals of all ages and skill levels for its accessibility, social nature, and health benefits;
and
WHEREAS, the sport promotes physical activity, community engagement, and lifelong
wellness by providing an inclusive recreational opportunity for residents of all
backgrounds; and
WHEREAS, pickleball brings together neighbors, friends, and families, strengthening
community bonds and enhancing quality of life throughout the Town of Wappinger; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Wappinger continues to invest in parks and recreational amenities
that encourage active lifestyles, including Martz Field Recreation Facility, that support the
growing popularity of pickleball; and
WHEREAS, April is recognized nationwide as National Pickleball Month, a time to celebrate
the sport's growth and encourage participation at all levels; and
WHEREAS, promoting recreational opportunities such as pickleball aligns with the Town's
commitment to health, wellness, and community vitality;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, do
hereby proclaim the month of April as National Pickleball Month in the Town of Wappinger;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that all residents are encouraged to take part in pickleball
activities, explore local recreational opportunities, and embrace the spirit of community
and wellness that the sport fosters; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town of Wappinger reaffirms its commitment to
enhancing recreational programming and facilities that support active and healthy
lifestyles for all.
The foregoing was put to a vote which resulted as follows:
