Resolution Declaring April As Child Abuse Prevention Month
At a Regular Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County, New York, held
at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls, New York, on April 13, 2026.
The meeting was called to order by Joseph D. Cavaccini, Town Supervisor, and upon roll being called,

The following Resolution was introduced by Casella and seconded by Councilman Phillips.
WHEREAS, children are our community's most valuable resource and deserve to grow up in a safe,
nurturing, and supportive environment; and
WHEREAS, child abuse and neglect remain serious issues that affect families and communities, with
lasting impacts on a child's physical, emotional, and developmental well-being; and
WHEREAS, preventing child abuse requires the collective commitment of residents, families, educators,
service providers, and community leaders working together to support and strengthen families; and
WHEREAS, increasing awareness, promoting education, and providing resources to parents and
caregivers are essential to preventing abuse and ensuring the well-being of children; and
WHEREAS, April is recognized nationwide as Child Abuse Prevention Month, symbolized by the blue
ribbon as a reminder of the importance of protecting children and supporting families; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Wappinger is committed to fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive community
where all children can thrive;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, do hereby proclaim
the month of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in the Town of Wappinger; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that all residents are encouraged to play an active role in supporting families,
reporting suspected abuse, and promoting the well-being of children in our community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town of Wappinger will illuminate Town Hall in blue throughout the
month of April in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month and as a symbol of our commitment to
protecting children; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town reaffirms its dedication to partnering with local organizations,
schools, and agencies to raise awareness and strengthen efforts to prevent child abuse and neglect.
The foregoing was put to a vote which resulted as follows:
