At a Regular Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County, New York, held
at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls,
New York, on February 9, 2026.

The following Resolution was introduced by Casella and seconded by Councilman Phillips.
WHEREAS, heart disease remains the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States,
affecting individuals, families, and communities across the nation, including residents of the Town of
Wappinger; and
WHEREAS, American Heart Month is observed each February to raise awareness about heart disease,
stroke prevention, and the importance of cardiovascular health; and
WHEREAS, many cases of heart disease and stroke can be prevented through healthy lifestyle choices,
including regular physical activity, balanced nutrition, maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding tobacco
use, managing stress, and receiving routine medical care; and
WHEREAS, promoting heart health education empowers residents with the knowledge to recognize the
signs and symptoms of heart attack and stroke and to take timely action that can save lives; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Wappinger encourages partnerships among healthcare providers, community
organizations, schools, and local leaders to promote wellness initiatives and support healthier living for
residents of all ages;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger hereby proclaims the
month of February as American Heart Month in the Town of Wappinger; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town Board encourages all residents to take steps to improve their
heart health, learn the warning signs of heart attack and stroke, and participate in activities that promote
cardiovascular wellness throughout the year.
The foregoing was put to a vote which resulted as follows:
