Resolution Hiring Part Time Highway Employee
At a Regular Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County,
New York, held at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls, New York, on January
12, 2026.

The following Resolution was introduced by Casella and seconded by Councilman Beale.
WHEREAS, a vacancy of apart time Laborer position exists in the Highway Department, and
WHEREAS, the Superintendent of Highways Michael J. Sheehan has appointed Michael Mitchell to
the position of Laborer effective January 2, 2026, and
WHEREAS, the part time Laborer position is a Labor position under Civil Service Law which is not
subject to competitive examination, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, as follows:
1. The Town Board hereby acknowledges the appointment of Michael Mitchell as Laborer,
retroactive to January 2, 2026, who shall be compensated at the rate of $30.00 per hour which shall
be paid in weekly installments, in accordance with the CBA.
2. The above appointment is subject to the approval of the Dutchess County Department of Human
Resources and is further subject to Civil Service Law and the Rules of New York State and the
Dutchess County Department of Human Resources.
3. The above appointment is subject to a probationary term of not less than eight nor more than
twenty-six weeks in accordance with the rules of the Dutchess County Department of Human
Resources.
4. All necessary documentation for the appointment shall be filed with the Dutchess County
Department of Human Resources
