Resolution Recognizing September 2025 As National Recovery Month In The Town Of Wappinger

New York, on September 22, 2025.

The following Resolution was introduced by Councilman Phillips and seconded by Casella.
WHEREAS, behavioral health is an essential part of overall health and well-being; and
WHEREAS, prevention of mental health and substance use challenges works, treatment is effective, and
people do recover; and
WHEREAS, more than 20 million Americans are living in recovery from substance use disorders,
demonstrating the strength, resilience, and potential of every individual to live a healthy and productive
life; and
WHEREAS, National Recovery Month is observed every September to promote and support new
evidence -based treatment and recovery practices, the nation's strong recovery community, and the
dedication of service providers and community members across the nation who make recovery possible;
and
WHEREAS, the Town of Wappinger recognizes the need to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and
encourage open dialogue about mental health and substance use, so that those in need may find
pathways to help and hope; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Wappinger is committed to supporting initiatives, resources, and community-
based efforts that promote recovery and the overall health and well-being of its residents; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger does hereby
proclaim September 2025 as National Recovery Month in the Town of Wappinger, and calls upon
residents, businesses, organizations, and institutions to join together in promoting awareness and
understanding of recovery, and to support those on their journey toward health and wholeness.
The foregoing was put to a vote which resulted as follows:
