Resolution Promoting Full Time Maintenance Mechanic To Full Time Head Maintenance
Mechanic In The Buildings And Grounds Department
At a Regular Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County,
New York, held at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls, New York, on June 23,
2025.

The following Resolution was introduced by Councilman Beale and seconded by Casella.
WHEREAS, Juan Abril has been employed in the Buildings and Grounds Department as a
Maintenance Mechanic, and
WHEREAS, the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds advises that Juan Abril exhibits strong work
ethic in skilled carpentry, plumbing, operating machinery and completing skilled tasks in the
preventative maintenance/projects division of the Buildings and Grounds Department, and
WHEREAS, the position of Head Maintenance Mechanic is appropriate forJuan Abril through his
duties in assisting the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds and taking the lead in work crews in the
Buildings and Grounds Department, and
WHEREAS, the full time Head Maintenance Mechanic position is a Labor position under Civil
Service Lawwhich is not subject to competitive examination, and
WHEREAS, the full-time Head Maintenance Mechanic position is subject to the terms of the
Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Town of Wappinger and Teamsters Local 445 ("CBA"),
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
1. Juan Abril is hereby appointed to the full-time civil service job title Head Maintenance Mechanic,
effective June 24, 2025.
2. Juan Abril shall be compensated at the hourly rate of $30.00 which shall be paid in weekly
installments, in accordance with the CBA.
3. The appointment is subject to the approval of the Dutchess County Department of Human
Resources and is further subject to Civil Service Law and the Rules of New York State and the
Dutchess County Department of Human Resources.
The appointment is subject to a probationary term of not less than eight or more than twenty-six
weeks in accordance with the rules of the Dutchess County Department of Human Resources.
The foregoing was put to a vote which resulted as follows:
